Born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu, Dr. Kyle Oroku has cultivated a passion for optometry.
He earned his bachelor's in Biology from Pacific University in Oregon. He pursued his Optometry degree at Pacific University College of Optometry.
Following his academic journey, Dr. Oroku completed his Primary Care Optometry residency at the Lexington VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY. A proud member of both the Hawaii Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, he is dedicated to advancing eye care practices.
Dr. Oroku focuses on challenging contact lens fittings, particularly scleral lenses for keratoconus, and is actively introducing ortho-k lenses to reshape the cornea during sleep for enhanced vision throughout the day.
Beyond his professional pursuits, he cherishes quality time with his family. He embraces outdoor activities such as beach days, hiking, fishing, and photography. Dr. Oroku's love for travel allows him to explore new places and immerse himself in diverse cultures.
A native of Hawaii, Dr. Alan Tanaka proudly graduated from Pearl City High School before moving to Oregon, where he earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from Pacific University and Portland State University. While in Oregon, he lived in a predominantly Hispanic community, an experience that inspired him to pursue his optometric education at the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico, School of Optometry, an English-Spanish bilingual institution.
With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Tanaka has worked across diverse settings including private practice, commercial clinics, hospitals, and community health centers. For the past ten years, he owned and operated Blink Vision Care, where he was known for his compassionate, patient-centered approach. Dr. Tanaka believes in providing vision care with a personal touch, treating every patient as part of his ohana (family).
Outside of his practice, Dr. Tanaka treasures time with his family and enjoys exploring the world together. He lives by the philosophy: “Don’t travel to see places; let your eyes see the travel.”
